 For ignition and arc establishing, existing power supplies use high frequency (HF) oscillating electrical field, which results in unacceptable level of electromagnetic interference (EMI).
The conventional power supplies can not be integrated in modern automated systems using intelligent controllers - robots, lasers, PC, - without applying complex and expensive protective methods: filters, suppressors, screening, etc.
However, these methods do not guarantee required process reliability and consistency. The problem is acute when welding Aluminum alloys in AC mode. In addition, the high HF level increases the risk to operating personnel.
PLT has developed a patented technology which solves all the above problems by eliminating HF oscillations in the SoftStart™ ignition device.
